Byzantine mosaics:

The Byzantine Empire was highly religious and  inherited this
 artistic tradition of mosaics.
Almost all of these mosaics were influenced by religion. Here are
Some pieces that are inspired by Christianity.







Islamic mosaics:

These beautiful mosaics are made up of tesserae which
are small, flat pieces of stone or glass. Islamic mosaics
are extremely colorful and decorative. They were often used
for interior decoration. Some of them resemble mandalas.
