Recently walking to a coffee shop near the RISD museum I came across a large gate-like sculpture that decorated the entrance of a building. I looked at it up close and realized it was bamboo strung together and painted white. I'm a big fan of bamboo. I have bamboo in my room that is 2 months dead because I forgot to water it so I painted it. I was inspired by the use of dead bamboo as a canvas that I have taken a liking in painting on random shit. Some artists do this and it doesn't look like trash. They use objects around them as canvases, rather than limiting paintings to a flat boring surface. Everywhere I go I see art. The world is one big canvas. Desks in classrooms are painted with vibrant colors and buildings are covered in graffiti. We recently painted on old vinyls that Kristen discovered in her daily trash picking ;))) The world is a canvas!!! even Trumps face on bathroom walls.
